Education is as natural a part of life as breathing. From the day we are born, we are learning. As babies, we explore our fingers and toes. We are taught our ABCs and how to tie our shoes. We discover what we like to eat and what we don’t. We learn to approach the world from a standpoint of trust or mistrust. And we go on from there. Life is about learning, growing, adapting, and learning some more. It follows, then, that we must be taught the ABCs of our faith. That, simply stated, is the role of the ministry of Christian education, although there is more.
- Christian Education Guidelines UMC
Madison UMC offers a wide variety of Christian Education opportunities. All these opportunities give us the time and space to grow in our faith and strengthen our relationship with Jesus Christ. Christian Discipleship is more than being a spectator. It’s about being involved. These educational offerings allow a place to build relationships with God and others. It’s about learning, growing, sharing, and caring. It’s the opportunity to build relationships that last for a life long journey of faith. You can’t afford to miss out on all the benefits and fun.
Children & Family Ministries
Throughout the year, there are varying opportunities for children and families to fellowship, and grow together in Christ. Every month we have a “Wonderful Wednesday” program with a church-wide meal and guest speaker. Children, youth, and adults and families of all ages are welcome.
We have an active youth group. They enjoy many fellowship opportunities as well as Bible study, mission projects, and fundraisers. Join us for youth fellowship on Sunday evenings at 5:30 pm downstairs in our youth center.
The UMM meet the 3rd Monday of every month at 6:30pm in our fellowship hall. A meal is served following a devotional and a short business meeting. We enjoy serving Christ and our local church and it’s members in and around Rockingham County with our talents, our gifts, our service, and our witness.
The UMW has a morning and an evening group. They meet the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the fellowship hall and on the 3rd Tuesday at 10:00 am. There are special programs which are followed by a business meeting. We are a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ and to develop a creative support fellowship to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the Church.
Join us for lunch every Thursday at 12pm. We travel to local restaurants or sometimes take a little road trip to neighboring Greensboro and sometimes include a field trip. All are welcome.
